Most of our customers' first indication of a serious plumbing problem that may require sewer line repair comes from a drain backing up or not draining properly. With any luck, your drain line backup is an isolated issue and a drain cleanout will solve the problem. In any event, it’s critical that you act quickly to address a drain clearing issue to prevent the problem from getting worse.
Let’s face it, gunk goes down our drains, and with time, there can be buildup that eventually clogs a drain, or causes it to drain inefficiently. Periodic drain cleanouts are good hygiene for your home’s plumbing to keep your drains and plumbing in peak draining condition.
Regular drain cleaning and maintenance, which we highly recommend, will prevent drain problems from popping up unexpectedly, but if you notice any of the following signs, to prevent flooding or a plumbing overflow, you should urgently order a drain cleaning service:
when water is standing and doesn’t drain, whether in a sink, shower or in your washing machine, it means a clog somewhere in your plumbing
slowly draining sinks or bathtubs, etc. means a clog is forming in your plumbing that will shortly fully clog. Once a partial clog has begun to form, it will accelerate to a full clog.
A foul odor that you can’t figure out where it’s coming from is frequently a sign of a sewage buildup. Odor-causing sewage buildups can even occur when plumbing appears to be draining properly, and only a drain cleaning service will be able to get to the source.
When clogs become a regular occurrence, and you’ve already tried drain cleaners and the clog keeps happening.
Gurgling in your pipes is a sign of a forming clog that will shortly gain speed.
Clogged pipes in your toilet, washing machine or sink can cause backups or flooding of gray or brown water that wreak damage to your home and create unsanitary conditions that require environmental cleanup.
Fruit flies congregating around some area of your plumbing is a canary in the coal mine of a buildup in your drains.
Unexplained or frequent toilet overflows are indication of a clog that needs to be cleared.
A simple clog will clear easily with liquid drain cleaner, but if it doesn’t, continuing to pour drain cleaner a) can risk damage to your pipes, but b) you have a clog that requires a more industrial-grade solution.
When more than just one drain backs up at the same time, this is a strong sign of a serious issue in your drainage pipes, and you may require a sewer line repair.
Salt Lake City Sewer Line Repair and Drain Cleaning Service Co. uses Hydro Jetting technology to clear drain lines. When liquid drain cleaner, plungers and even drain snakes don’t solve the problem, drain hydro jetting is the way to go. Hydro jetting is essentially pressure washing the insides of your pipes, and unlike snaking, which pokes holes in clogs in the hopes they clear, a hydro jetting service, with its highly compressed water pressure, completely clears a pipe and removes all traces of a clog. It’s safe when performed by a drain cleaning professional, and we are able to clean your drain without use of harsh chemicals.

When you’re dealing with challenging plumbing issues, or to know what you’re dealing with before you buy a property, we highly recommend a sewer line camera inspection (also known as a sewer video inspection). Sewer line video inspections enable the identification of the root cause of sewer line repair issues without the need to dig or open up pipes. Drain Camera Inspections (aka drain video inspections) can also take the guesswork out of drain pipe issues. Salt Lake City Sewer Line Repair and Drain Cleaning Service Co’s technicians are equipped with sewer camera inspection equipment that can be employed when we believe a plumbing problem may require better information to propose a solution, and is always available to our customers to remove uncertainty and confirm the source of plumbing issues.
Frequently, a drain cleaning service will solve the drain clearing issue. However, in many instances, addressing the true source of the plumbing problem requires a sewer line repair. Especially if you are encountering multiple drain clearing issues, it’s likely the ultimate problem is with your sewer line. Salt Lake City Sewer Line Repair and Drain Cleaning Co. has the expertise to quickly evaluate the nature and source of the plumbing issue you’re dealing with to enable us to cut to the chase and solve the problem right away, saving you from the hassle of chasing the same problem time after time.
If you are experiencing any of the following, or something else that concerns you, don’t hesitate to call. With a sewer camera inspection, you can know immediately the nature of the problem, and we can begin to work together to solve the problem. Trust us, you don’t want to let a sewer line problem get out of control.
Wastewater from a toilet showing up in a shower or tub is a good sign you have a serious plumbing issue that is affecting multiple drainlines, and may be the result of a sewer line issue.
Multiple clogs in in various areas of your home or building, or persistent, regular clogs or slow draining in different places are indicative of an issue at the heart of your plumbing system.
Sewage release can cause an influx of rats, cockroaches and fruit flies that can feed off of the remnants of sewage from a backup.
Terrible smelling pooling or watery spots in your unexpectedly green yard can be a sign you’re feeding your lawn with raw sewage from a broken sewer line.
The smell of sewage or mold in places that aren’t normal, like your backyard, your basement or anywhere in your home, is a good indication of a sewer line problem. Malfunctioning sewer lines can leak wastewater, causing humidity to rise and mold to grow.
Salt Lake City Trenchless Sewer Line Repair and Drain Cleaning Co. specializes in sewer line repair, and with deep expertise in trenchless sewer line repair, including pipe bursting and pipe lining trenchless methods, as well as traditional sewer line replacement, we are able to provide customized sewer repair or replacement remediation/rehabilitation solution tailored to the specific needs of the circumstances of your property, utilizing the latest methods, technology, tools and products to propose a solution that ensures your sewer line repair is completed as quickly and cost effectively as possible.
Many of our customers are surprised to find out that it is possible in many instances to repair or replace a sewer line without digging a massive trench and tearing up your yard and landscaping, saving you thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars. The method that enables this is called
trenchless pipe repair.
Trenchless sewer line repair is a great option when the conditions are suitable for it, though it isn’t always an option, and our trained technicians can walk you through the best option given the conditions of your property during our initial on-site assessment.
Traditional sewer line repair, called
Open Trench Sewer Line Replacement,
entails digging a trench and removing and replacing old sewer pipe. 70% of the cost of open trench sewer line repair comes from the cost of excavation and replacement of soil and the repair to landscaping, driveway, sidewalks, etc. Trenchless sewer line repair, on the other hand, enables circumvention of the trench digging effort, using new tools, technology and products, such as pipe bursting or pipe lining, to repair, replace or otherwise remediate the sewer line to functional use, usually at a fraction of the total project cost of an open trench sewer line replacement.
Trenchless sewer repair is highly specialized and skilled work and requires technicians that are specially trained in trenchless sewer repair methods, tools and materials, and isn’t a good job for a generic plumbing services company. Additionally, trenchless sewer line replacement doesn’t work well in instances such as where a pipe has collapsed, was installed incorrectly, or where a burst pipe has damaged utilities surrounding it. In these instances, traditional open trench sewer line repair is required.
Trenchless pipe repair and trenchless plumbing methods represent real innovation in plumbing technology that can translate into real cost savings and efficiencies for homeowners and commercial property owners. As the name implies, trenchless pipe repair entails utilizing various tools and methods to repair or replace the pipe without actually digging a trench and physically removing the existing piping. There are a few different trenchless pipe repair methods that have different pros and cons (see Trenchless Pipe Lining Method and Trenchless Pipe Bursting Method below). Trenchless pipe repair is more expensive in direct cost terms on a per square foot basis, but trenchless pipe repair’s value proposition is greatest in situations where the costs of excavation and indirect costs of an open trench pipe repair are high.
The trenchless pipe lining method, also referred to as Cured in Place Pipe Lining (CIPP) Method entails feeding an epoxy-coated liner through your existing pipe and then curing the epoxy liner with an inflatable bladder applying pressure walls of the pipe. The advantages of this method is that it is a truly trenchless plumbing approach, and doesn’t require any holes to be dug. It can be performed in almost any weather or soil conditions, and is durable, with an extremely long expected lifespan. The trenchless pipe lining sewer line repair method also has the advantage of the existing piping providing an extra layer of protection to the new epoxy piping, reinforcing its durability. The disadvantage is that it reduces the diameter (and thus throughput capacity) of your sewer pipe, and the sewer pipe needs to be cleaned prior to executing the pipe lining process. All-in-all, using the trenchless pipe lining CIPP method is a good option in many scenarios, and especially excels where pipe issues entail cracks or fairly small gaps, in which case pipe lining can be less expensive relative to the pipe bursting method.
The trenchless pipe bursting method, as the name implies, entails ‘bursting’ or destroying the old pipe, while simultaneously running a new pipe. The process utilizes a steel bursting head that fractures the old pipe, with new pipe attached to the bursting head replacing the old pipe as the bursting head progresses forward. The advantages of this method are that you are left with a completely new pipe with no reduction in diameter or reduction in water flow capacity. This method does not depend on the structure of the old pipe, and therefore can be viable in instances where the pipe lining method is not. The downsides of the pipe bursting method are that it does require digging a few smaller holes (so it’s not truely trenchless), it is a more invasive process, and can cost more and there may be soil conditions that may prevent it from being an appropriate choice.
Our highly trained and experienced team will provide a customized solution for your sewer line repair/replacement circumstances, taking into account the conditions of your existing sewer line and external and cost considerations to determine the optimal go-forward plan. Unlike many plumbing services companies that only have limited expertise in the various methods of sewer line repair, which will prejudice them in the direction of what they know best rather than what is best for you, we have extensive experience in all methods, allowing us to be agnostic as to method and make decisions in the best interest of our customers, and the conditions and circumstances of their sewer line.
